Here are some of the most common questions I get from folks thinking about starting therapy.

Yes! Research has shown time and time again that the most important factor in having a good experience in therapy is the level of trust and comfort you have with your therapist.
I tell clients that sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right therapist, and that’s ok!
We can talk about what worked or didn’t work in your previous therapy experiences in order to create an experience that feels right to you.

It’s a lot like in-person therapy with the added benefit of being able to stay in your PJs, experience the comfort of being in your own space and not have to venture out (because somedays it’s just too people-y out there!).
I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant online video platform for our sessions. You can be anywhere in Arizona during your session (you just can’t be driving!), and you’ll need a good internet connection and a private space for your appointment.

Nope, just virtual sessions.

You can think of our first session as a casual, no-pressure conversation. I’m very laid back and informal and I show up to each session as myself.
I do my best to create a space where you can show up as yourself, too. You can ask any questions that are on your mind, and I’ll ask you to share a bit about what prompted you to reach out for support.
We’ll also work together to figure out what your goals for therapy are. The initial session also allows each of us to get a sense for whether or not it might be a good fit for us to work together!

Honestly, it’s hard to say!
One of the most interesting parts about therapy is that you learn to trust a perfect stranger with some of your deepest pain and struggles, knowing that the end goal is to eventually part ways.
We might work together for a few weeks or months, or we might work together for a year or even more. It all depends on what your goals are and what you’re coming to therapy for.
You can choose to end therapy at anytime. It’s usually best to talk about ending therapy rather than ending it abruptly so we can ensure you’ve got the necessary supports and coping strategies in place. -
I provide individual therapy to adults who are 18 or older. I’d be happy to provide you with referrals to therapists I trust who work with children, teens and couples.
